Meet Julie

"A quote I live by is 'The best way out is always through,' by Robert Frost. I aim to create a safe space for genuine connection and change. I am passionate about this work because it has been a life saver to me and at this point in my life I wouldn't change my journey, although it has involved much pain. I have walked this road toward empowerment and truly am passionate about walking it with others."

As a partner and a licensed professional counselor with seven plus years of experience in sex addiction,  betrayal trauma and marriage counseling, I aim to create a safe space for genuine connection and change. I am passionate about this work because it has been a life saver to me and at this point in my life I wouldn’t change my journey, although it has involved much pain. After seeing my dad get into recovery from alcoholism when I was a teenager and  be transformed into someone who was truly there for me, then seeing the new level of intimacy that is possible for those that make it through this journey towards recovery, I have hope for you even when you feel like giving up. True inner healing transforms relationships and sometimes means replacing old messages and patterns. I have walked this road toward empowerment and truly am passionate about walking it with others.

Often, brokenness stems from unsafe relationships where we relied on someone who let us down. True healing requires experiencing new relationships where we can fully reveal ourselves and be accepted, even at our worst. Almost all the therapy specialties I’ve chosen focus on actually trying something new in a real relationship. Whether this new experience of relationship is with me- the therapist, your partner, a horse, a group, a discarded part of your self, or your Higher Power, I will urge you to  to compassionately attune first to your own body, then to practice connecting with others to help get your core needs met.

As a partner, I get it that it’s been a roller coaster of trying to connect with someone who you are not sure is safe and has wounded you more deeply than you thought possible. I want to encourage you to trust your gut, stand in your power and ask for what you need. For the one who has woken up from  compulsive sexual behavior  and is trying to rebuild trust in the midst of a storm of overwhelming emotions, you can learn to  get your true needs met by learning to tolerate your emotions and be there for your partner and yourself.

When I’m not doing the work I love,  I like  to be outside bird watching, hiking or horse back riding. I love hanging out with friends and family going to festivals, antiquing or on vacations. I have 3 amazing almost adult kids (the youngest is 20!) and two spectacular dogs. I’m also passionate about equine therapy and outreach in the community and with my church.
